Martin Solveig

Martin Laurent Picandet, also known as “Martin Solveig“, is a 36 year old French electronic music producer and DJ from Paris. Martin is extremely talented as he works in many different musical genres as well as many different artists.  He currently hosts a weekly radio show “C’est La Vie”, which is broadcasted worldwide along with FG DJ Radio in France.  Martin also has his own music label Mixture Stereophonic and has been voted 29th in the 2011 Top 100 DJ poll, hosted by DJ Mag.  Martin began his musical career as a child when he joined the choir of the “Petits Chanteurs de Sainte-Croix de Neuilly” or “The Paris Boys Choir”, which was created in 1956.  This choir has quite the reputation as it makes frequent appearances in world-class festivals and regularly performs great pieces with orchestra.  At age 18, Martin became a DJ and was working in famous Parisian nightclubs such as Le Queen, Les Bains Douches, and L’Enfer.  Martin chose “Solveig” as his stage name in honor of the French actress Solveig Dommartin.  In 2011 Martin became one of the producers for Madonna‘s new album, MDNA.  In 2012 Martin was chosen to be the in house DJ for the 2012 MTV Movie Awards.  So with such high regard for Martin Solveig, you may wonder why I included a picture of him with Duck Sauce?? Well the DJ duo who came up with the ever so popular “Barbara Streisand” includes awesome turntabilist, A-Trak who is coming to Denver tonight with Flosstradamus for their house party tour.  They are playing at an undisclosed venue, which will be announced later today and is rumored to be at a north Denver intimate venue.  This is something you are not going to want to miss!  Along with playing a show tonight A-Trak also has my favorite remix of Martin Solveig‘s “The Night Out“, where he keeps the same intro and vocals, then drops it into a ferocious minimal beat!

Martin Solveig and Dragonette‘s “Hello” is a great song that goes along with an awesome music video.  Well to be honest, I have a huge bias on the video as I am a huge tennis advocate. The video is Martin playing a round at the French Open, which depicts an epic comeback after he notices the girl of his dreams is watching.  Not to mention the video includes appearances from tennis stars Gael Monfils and Novak Djokovic.

I posted these next two songs for the sole purpose of showing off Martin Solveig‘s versatility.  “Get Away From You” is a pop rock song which includes vocals by the man himself along with some kick ass guitar.  “Lets Not Play Games” featuring Sunday Girl is a down tempo electronic song which lays down a great beat to compliment the vocals.

Martin Solveig‘s “The Night Out” is an amazing song and is most likely his most popular song.  I can’t tell you how many times I have heard this song or versions of it at all the shows I have been to this year.  Even though I posted a remix previous, I wanted to promote the original as well.  The video is pretty cool and gives us the extended version of the song that his sound cloud does not, also A-Trak makes a couple of appearances in there!

Arno Cost & Martin Solveig‘s 2010 remix of “Touch Me” is straight filthy!  This track has a bit of an intro, but drops into some epic minimal bliss making it a sure favorite!

Hope to see everyone at the show tonight!
