Axwell

axwell

Axel Christofer Hedfors from Stockholm, Sweden is one of my favorite House producers and goes by stage name Axwell.  Not only is he the driving force behind Swedish House Mafia, but he also slays on the DJ decks.  I first saw him live at the NCMF in Chicago this past year and his set was quite amazing.  A great house set, he kept the energy high and made me forget about wanting to see SHM.  He currently owns his own label and was voted #12 in DJ Mag’s Top 100 of the year 2011.  Below are some of my favorite youtube videos/songs from the man.  Keeping it short and sweet for today, hopefully we can get back into posting more frequently.

Enjoy!

NAPT

NAPT

Tomek Naden and Ashley Pope make up an electronic dance music production/DJ duo coming out of Britain.  They go by NAPT and have won many awards such as best producer and best track at Breakspoll in 2009 and once again 2010, claiming the first back to back in both categories.  They launched new label Red Sugar Records and have even released some songs on A-Trak‘s Fool’s Gold Records.  Not to mention they have played for radio shows such as BBC Radio One and Annie Mac.  They have a wide variety of music and a ton of tracks out there.  “The Rollers” featuring Skibadee is a heavy hitting electro track that starts disco’d out then gets real nasty!  Their collab with Lucian XPerfect Day” has a great intro that gets dubbed out, making it another great track.  “Emotion Part 2” showcases some more of that heavy electro they are so good at producing.  “King Jitter” begins with some epic vocals and may remind you of a more “housey” track, but don’t be fooled this one gets pretty heavy as well.  “Italian Spiderman” featuring FireFlowerz starts off with a pretty intense beat, but drops into some straight filth halfway through.  “Lock The P” is a great funky song with a pretty epic video, however, the video wasn’t loading correctly from youtube so I’ve included the soundcloud as well, in hopes the vid will work eventually.

Flume

Flume

Coming from the land down under, Flume, has been producing music since the age of 13.  Yea that’s right 13, the kid began his musical obsession with a production program found in a cereal box.  ‘Sleepless’ was his very first EP and damn is it good. I would be surprised if you haven’t heard his first and most famous track from the EP, but just in case I took the liberty of posting it “Sleepless” featuring Jezzabell Doran.  After his first EP, Flume began working on the remix of New Navy‘s anthem “Zimbabwe“, which landed him Triple J’s February mix up exclusive resident.  You can find the music video for the wonderful remix at the bottom of this post.  Flume is now in high demand playing festivals and shows all over Australia along with working on a new album release.  “On Top” featuring T.Shirt (great name by the way) is a super chill track with some great vocals giving it more of a hip hop feel.  “Holding On”  is truly an awesome production that brings in some high quality soul.  “I Met You” a collaboration done with Anna Lunoe,  is once again an excellent song, keeping a chill tempo with some beautiful vocals.  Ames also posted a couple of great songs from the man himself awhile back under the Future Classic post (Flume‘s Label), which can be found here.  Sit back, relax and chill out to some epic tunes!
