Two Door Cinema Club

two door cinema club

Kevin Baird, Alex Trimble, and Sam Halliday have been creating some awesome songs in the past couple years.  Hailing from Northern Ireland they go by Two Door Cinema Club.  Taking a step back from the EDM scene we bring you a band, like many others, who are responsible for making the EDM scene what it is today.  Without traditional bands, singers, and artists we would not have some of my most favorite electronic remixes, collabs, and productions.  These guys came out with their debut album in 2010 and have made quite a few gems since.  Probably my favorite song at this point in time was first heard in The Magician‘s mix, Magic Tape 28, which is an Alex Metric remix of “Sun“.  I know there are those out there who aren’t that into the “indie/hipster” scene or music, but honestly give this one a listen!  I definitely have a soft spot for some great vocals and piano, whether it maybe chill nu disco, house, or dnb.  Moulinex has a great take on “I Can Talk” electrifying the original with a great beat.  “What You Know” is an excellent original from the group showing off their great guitar skills and catchy vocals.  The Twelves do some justice remixing their original “Something Good Can Work”  being an excellent group themselves out of Brazil.  Ames and I were able to see The Twelves a few months ago here in Denver and they played an awesome show down at the Marquis!  Enjoy the super chilled out sounds from this Irish indie group and the wonderful remixes!  Gotta switch it up every once in awhile.

︻╦╤─ ƱZ ─╤╦︻

I’m swamped and pissed at work. This post will be short and sweet, and pay homage to the current trap champ: ƱZ. He recently remixed one of my favorite producers, Alex Metric. I saw the trap genre attached to Rave Weapon and immediately went for /facepalm…. BUT it rocks. No other way to put it, in fact it could be my favorite remix of the song so far. His collab with CRNKN bangs with the ghetto vibe that defines that dirty trap sound. I mean you can’t help but bop around like a G listenin’ to this trappppp shit. The fifth installment of “TRVP SHIT” is literally the most gangster song i’ve ever heard, so it goes here. I’ll close with his UKF Podcast, because I have yet to find another trap producer that can actually string a mix together…. A good one anyways  😉

DAMN SON, where’d yah find this?!?

Enjoy!

Bloc Party

The boys from the Bloc have done it again. The indie quartet from across the pond has brought countless hits stateside, and the remixes are impressive to say the least. Their newest album “Four” releases August 20th, and I’ll be hitting my DL, day of, around 12:01. The highlight is a track entitled Octopus, and it’s an upbeat electro-punk inspired indie JAM. Once you can tear yourself away from the original, go NastyTrack style and listen to RAC electrofy this track. Once again, he absolutely SHINES this track up with a waxy disco synth, undeniably groovy. RAC has become a highlight amongst remix collections lately, and this one CRANKS; not to mention it released within a day of the original (yesterday)! Speaking of remixing power, check out this electro banger by LA duo Villians. They take the post-punk track Ares, and spit electro fire all over it. I first heard the Villians when coming up with tracks for my first Fun Mixtape, I stumbled across their remix of Dragonette’s Fixin’ to Thrill and i’ve looked to them for electro indie ever since. Actually, I mixed a Bloc Party remix into the Dragonette track in the very same Fun Mix 1! Alex Metric absolutly destroys tracks, and his remix of One More Chance is a shining example of the London producers ability to amp up indie tracks with electro energy. Lots of tracks today… but hell its a Bloc Party!

Enjoy!
